Machine vice with slide and base made from steel as well as hardened and ground guideways ensure high precision.
The clamping range of the machine vice can be easily adapted to the desired clamping position by quick adjustment with socket pins. The force build-up is made mechanically/hydraulically and is continuously adjustable. The compact design, the sophisticated technology, the extend accessory range for clamping jaws and the design with several sizes turn this machine vice into a cost-effective clamping system in proven Hilma quality.

The completely revised force transmission requires minimum effort on the crank handle. An angle drive (optional extra) facilitates the operation, e.g. in the case of longitudinal clamping on the machine table.
The optional clamping force preselection (retrofittable) enables the force to be applied in 6 stages up to the maximum.

For exacting demands on clamping quality
The mechanical-hydraulic force transmission and the lead screw are integrated into the slide body and are fully encapsulated. Easy, user-friendly manual clamping using the crank handle. 6-stage clamping force selection and angle drive are available as accessories which may be retrofitted.
The steel base with minimum deformation equipped with hardened and ground guideways as well as the linear guide with almost no play of the slide guarantee maximum precision.
The quick adjustment of the clamping ranges is made with socket pins, the use of a gas pressure spring relieves the load on the clamping slide.
KNC Universal for horizontal, vertical and lateral arrangement, with longitudinal and crosswise keyways 20 H7, reference keyway 20 H7 on the face, threaded mounting holes in the base and gas pressure spring for load relief of the slide in vertical arrangement. For vertical or lateral applications, the use of support angles or basic bodies is recommended.

For medium-sized and large series: Double clamping system DS hydraulically operated for efficient machining of workpieces, preferably with short cycle times. Can also be used arranged in a row for clamping of workpieces which require several clamping points. Compact and user-friendly for 2 optionally 4 workpieces (DS125).
The double clamping systems of the series DS excel by a high level of process safety. The patented guide and sealing system of the clamping systems guarantees a long service life with minimum maintenance. The 3rd hand function facilitates the insertion of workpieces in a row.

The flexible double clamping systems DF allow the efficient double machining of workpieces with the same or different dimensions. In series arrangement, clamping of large workpieces that require several clamping locations can be realised economically and user-friendly with series arrangement. Mechanical-hydraulic design for manual clamping / unclamping or hydraulic design with individual control variants and separate pressure transducer.
The machine-specific design (planned variants) guarantees the optimum utilization of the existing workspace.

The clamping device can be individually adapted to different distances of travel, to working space, clamping surface and machining task. User-friendly set-up for differently sized workpieces is performed in a jiffy. The use of a pressure gauge (an optional extra) permits exact, continuous clamping force display (important when carrying out rough and finish machining in one operation) and exact clamping force monitoring.
The clamping force can be applied manually using a crank handle (mechanical-hydraulic design) or by means of a hand or foot switch (hydraulic design). VarioLine is suitable for use in both horizontal and vertical machining centres. Direct adaptation to the machine tool is possible using selection parameters.
The standard jaws as well as customer‘s existing special jaws can be used provided that their dimensions fit the HILMA-ROEMHELD standard. This extends the range of applications.

Hydraulic design, for use in semi or fully-automatic operation
Connection to separate hydraulic pressure transducer, e.g. hydraulic power unit. Coarse adjustment of the clamping range using socket pins. Precise positioning against the workpiece and adjustment of the insertion tolerance manually using lead screws. The clamping process is triggered by a hand or foot switch in the case of fully automatic working cycle.

Compact clamping systems CS, DCS, DUO (figure 7)
Compact clamping systems in conjunction with interchangeable jaws enable the cost-effective solution of a variety of simple and complicated clamping tasks. Particularly suitable for single and series production as well as design element within fixtures. Different types and lengths guarantee optimum adaptation to work space, workpiece and machining task.
The clamping systems CS 80 H and DCS 80 H are also suitable for automated processes.

Multiple clamping system MSH (figure 8)
The high-precision multiple clamping system MSH is modular and can be configured according to the requirement of the machining.
The field of application is in the production of small, medium and large series. MSH may be used as an individual system or in combination with additional elements (e.g. towers, bridges, base plates, zero point clamping systems) on all machine tools, machining centres and flexible manufacturing systems.

The simple, well thought-out design guarantees safe and user-friendly handling. The modular design allows any extension to suit specific requirements.Short set-up times, minimum machine travel achieved by high workpieces density, reduced tool changes and a high rate of amortisation, these are the economic advantages of using this system.

Concentric vice ZH (figure 9)

Concentric vices position and clamp workpieces under the influence of the outer contours exactly in a given symmetry axis. They can be used on machining centres, machines tools and machines for end machining as well as within special clamping fixtures.
Hydraulic clamping and unclamping is made by an external pressure transducer with a double-acting circuit. The synchronisation control adjusted free of play guarantees a high centring precision.

Magnetic clamping systems with square pole technology offer diverse application possibilities in machining. The arrangement of the magnetic poles guarantees a safe compensation of machining forces in all directions. An electrical impulse is only required for clamping and unclamping.

This vice is a low-priced standard clamping device for the versatile use on vertical or universal machining centres for tool making, mould making, construction of jigs and fixtures and production The desired clamping range can be quickly preselected using socket pins.
The angular drive, available as accessory, can be mounted to the clamping slide and facilitates the operation, e.g. in the case of longitudinal clamping on the machine table.

The slots and tapped holes for fixing the top jaws are visible on the fixed jaw and the slide. The clamping forces are controlled by a separate hydraulic pressure transducer, in this figure a hydraulic power unit. The clamping force can be exactly read on the pressure gauge, so that it is exactly reproducible at any time. The clamping process can be triggered by a foot switch, the machine control or a valve with turning knob.

Application example 4 (figures 4a to 4e):
Mechanical-hydraulic machine vice KNC 125

The mechanical-hydraulic machine vice "KNC125" with a jaw width of 125 millimetres is used where flexibility and highest precision are required. The "KNC125" has a clamping force of 40 kN and a jaw opening from 0 to 354 millimetres using standard reversible jaws. Quick adjustment of the clamping range using socket pins. Alternatively numerous other standard clamping jaws can be used (figures 4b to 4e). Machine vices of the "KNC" series can be used – as shown - on vertical machining centres as well as on horizontal machining centres. Also the use on 5-axis machining centres with extra high clamping jaws is possible.

Application example 5 (figure 5):
Mechanical double clamping system DS-M
The mechanical double clamping system "DS-M" used in pairs of two clamping systems "DS 125". The machine run time is doubled, since four workpieces can be machined at the same time. Thanks to the patented guiding principle, also workpieces with different dimensions can be clamped on the clamping system "DS 125". A maximum of four workpieces can be clamped at the same time, when using floating central jaws. Depending on the requirements, the mechanical double clamping system "DS-M" is available with overall length of 430 millimetres and 510 millimetres. Two jaw widths 100 and 125 mm are available.

Hydraulic double clamping system DS-H
Hydraulic double clamping systems "DS 125H" on a long-bed machine. When using two additional floating jaws (always the second after the outside bar), up to four workpieces can be clamped at the same time for machining. The clamping forces are controlled by a separate hydraulic pressure transducer and can be triggered by a the machine control, a foot switch or - as shown- by a valve with turning knob. The clamping forces can be easily adjusted at the power unit and are thus exactly reproducible.
The shown clamping jaws are manufactured as per customer's specification, that are available besides the numerous standard elements of the large accessory range.

Mechanical double clamping system DS-M
Arrangement of four mechanical double clamping systems "DS 125"; their vice base is directly fixed onto the machine table. In one set-up, eight different workpieces can be fixed. The figure shows the simultaneous machining in the first and second set-up. Thanks to the patented guiding principle, also workpieces with different dimensions can be clamped on the clamping system "DS 125".

Series clamping with 17 hydraulic flexible clamping systems "VarioLine VL 125" on a long-bed machine. The clamping systems are mounted on bases. Four hydraulically-operated compact clamping systems "CS 80 H" on a reversible clamping system. Different clamping pressures can be adjusted on one fixture for the two outside and the two inside clamping systems. For the separate regulation, each unit has a pressure control valve and the associated pressure gauge. Depending on the requirements, the clamping systems with their base plates be combined in any way. The base plates are connected with the machine table by means of a zero point clamping system of the company STARK. In addition, the middle clamping fixture can positioned in the fifth axis . Oil supply is made through deep-hole drilled channels.

Compact clamping systems DUO 80
Three mechanically-operated compact double clamping systems "DUO 80" on reversible clamping system. The very compact design of the clamping systems allows an optimum assignment of the machine with workpieces. Mounted on base plates, the clamping systems can be axially moved and easily adjusted to changing component dimensions. Both clamping positions are clamped via a lead screw.

Multiple clamping system MSH
Two mechanically-operated multiple clamping systems built on a reversible clamping system in a vertical machining centre. Clamped are two times three workpieces, in the first and second set-up. The modular design of the clamping systems MSH allows the optimum utilization of the travel paths within the machine.

Application example 17 (figure 17):
Hydraulically-operated concentric vice ZH
Two concentric vices "Z 160 H" in automatic mode of machine for machining of ends. The next workpiece is ready (top right in the figure), it will be fed by the gripper (above the workpiece being machined), after the previous workpiece was placed to the left. Optimised clamping jaws allow the machining of different components without jaw change.
The fully automated plant is in unattended operation.
