Description

Rotary couplings are generally made to transfer liquid or gaseous media from a stationary to a rotating component.
Due to its design the rotary valve coupling permits additional control functions, so that valves and electrical control can be reduced to a minimum.
This control function is used for clock-pulse controlled rotary indexing tables. Station 1 of the standard elements is used as load and unload station (clamping and unclamping) and all additional stations are continuously pressurised or discharged to the pressure of the atmosphere (figure 1). The transmission of the pressure medium in the control stations is leakage-free.


Important notes
The materials of the rotary valve coupling are designed for the use with lubricated air or non-lubricated air. In the case of other media an adaptation will possibly be required.
The control functions of the catalogue elements refers to one station. If other switching functions are required as special version, please provide a corresponding functional description specifying the operating pressure, temperature, medium and number of rotations or cycle time.

Application examples

Application example 1
The photo shows an application on a four-station rotary indexing machine.
In three machining stations, drilling and tapping is made with multiple-spindle heads. In the loading and unloading station, the finished workpieces are exchanged with unmachined ones. The pneumatic clamping elements are double acting. The control is made according to the corresponding switching example on data sheet J7.490; however every second port is not used.
