single and multiple clamping systems
mechanically, mechanically/hydraulically or hydraulically operated
Application in horizontal machining centres
The tower clamping systems TS are flexible standard fixtures for your production. Whether for small or medium-sized batches, multiple or single clamping: Tower clamping systems TS offer an economical solution. With its 3 x 120° arrangement of the clamping points, the Tri-Star system gives plenty of room for the spindle and the tool. Even extra wide workpieces can be centrally clamped and machined from three sides.
The clamping force is applied mechanically. The use of a torque wrench allows the clamping forces to be adjusted precisely and reproducibly. There is no loss of clamping force when using grip jaws. A high zero-point accuracy and workpiece density is achieved by the central position of the central jaw (fixed jaw).
The 3rd hand function allows the user-friendly loading for all clamping points. An optionally available clamping unit. precisely controlled using a foot switch, keeps both hands free for component handling and enables the operator to position and clamp even heavy workpieces with effortless ease. The version Vector, with 2 lead screws, is particularly suitable for very heavy components.
The tower clamping system TS can be loaded with 4, 8 or 16 workpieces (with floating central jaws). The clamping points can be loaded with differently-sized workpieces. A large practice-oriented range of standard jaws makes the tower clamping system suitable for versatile applications in your production process. The compact spacing of the workpieces reduces the travel distances from one workpiece to the next to a minimum, Superfluous travels
and tool changes are avoided. Effective protection against swarf is ensured by a patented guide and sealing system which ensures many years‘ trouble-free operation of the TS systems.
Special benefits
The pneumatic clamping unit greatly improves the operating facility to an unrivalled extent. The operator triggers the clamping and unclamping process by actuating a foot-operated switch. Thus, he can use both hands for handling workpieces, which is especially important in the case of heavy workpieces. The torque for clamping the clamping system TS 125 must not be applied manually. The pneumatic screwdriver which has almost no weight, is suspended from two balancers and can be freely moved. The pneumatic clamping unit combines the reliable and simple mechanical features of the clamping system TS with the user friendliness provided by a hydraulic system.
The clamping system TS can also be used in automated processes. Solutions can be found in the product range "Automation".
Clamping against the fixed jaw, mechanically or hydraulically operated
jaw widths 80 and 120 mm, with 3 or 4 clamping sides
Application
SCT tower workholding systems are used on horizontal machining centres, in vertical machining in connection with 4th axis, but also on 5-axis machining centres. The applications range from manually equipped machines to pallet stations and fully automated systems.
The stability of the clamping systems and the high retention force due to the use of the special grip reversible jaw with hard metal coating make pre-embossing of the workpieces superfluous.
Description
Tower workholding systems of the SCT series excel by a very compact design. Thanks to the adjusting spindle arranged in the upper part of the housing, deformation in the base during clamping is reduced.
All essential components are made of steel.
The clamping device can be individually adapted to different distances of travel, to working space, clamping surface and machining task. User-friendly set-up for differently sized workpieces is performed in a jiffy. The use of a pressure gauge (an optional extra) permits exact, continuous clamping force display (important when carrying out rough and finish machining in one operation) and exact clamping force monitoring.
The clamping force can be applied manually using a crank handle (mechanical-hydraulic design) or by means of a hand or foot switch (hydraulic design). VarioLine is suitable for use in both horizontal and vertical machining centres. Direct adaptation to the machine tool is possible using selection parameters.
The standard jaws as well as customer‘s existing special jaws can be used provided that their dimensions fit the HILMA-ROEMHELD standard. This extends the range of applications.
