The product range "M-TECS" from Rivi Magentics stands for magnetic clamping technology, that means clamping technology of the highest level and offers the following key advantages for the user:

Functional principle and interface of the magnetic clamping system

The technology of the magnetic clamping plates is based on the principle of an electro-permanent magnet and is thus safe, even in case of a pressure failure. Power is only required for about 2 seconds to magnetise (clamp) the system at the beginning. In operation, the system works independently of any power supply. Only to unclamp the die, electrical energy is required again. The magnetic force is generated in a very flat, highly concentrated magnetic field. This penetrates only a few millimetres into the die base plate and will therefore have no impact on the die and the products.
The achievable magnetic forces are between 2- 5 kg/cm², depend on the surface and increase with the size of the die. Clamping forces of e.g. 500, 1000 or 4000 kN are possible. The forces can be adapted upwards and downwards to the needs of the machine. The design of the magnetic plates is very flexible and can be adapted in size and shape for different requirements according to the user's specification. The plate thicknesses are between 47- 75 mm. 
Additional holes for ejector, centring rings / positioning pins as well as pass-through holes for pieces punched out during metal forming can be easily integrated in the magnetic plates. There are no limits set to the geometric shape of the magnetic plates. The system is suitable for temperatures up to 240° C on request and can even resist to heavy contamination, release agents and vacuum. A permanent monitoring of the clamping condition, the temperature, and the position of the die by a supplied, separate control offers the maximum possible safety for automated processes.

The system itself does not have any movable elements and is practically maintenance-free. It is suitable for fitting or retrofitting without any problems in nearly all presses. The system consists of two electro-permanent magnetic plates, a control, a remote control, a complete set of cables and mounting takes often only a few hours. The interface to the machine is as per EUROMAP or according to customer's specification.

Safety of the magnetic clamping system

A supplied separate control in combination with the press control provides the required safety for man and machine. During the whole machining process, the control continuously monitors the parameters of the magnetic force, the position of the die (die contact) and the temperature. With the smallest movement of a die half, the machine will be stopped guaranteed safety for man and machine.

An indicator light on the remote control continuously shows the state of the system. The magnetic clamping system is CE tested and complies with the necessary machine directive 98/37/EEC, low voltage directive 73/23 EEC, EMC 89/336.
In addition, all requirements of EN201 for injection moulding machines and EN 289 for presses are met. 
All of the desired performance levels can be met.
TÜV inspections at the end customer and with press manufacturers confirm safe handling and use with the ROEMHELD magnetic clamping systems.

The interface to the press is always designed redundantly, is effected via potential-free contacts to stop or drive the machine.
Defined in the standard of EUROMAP 70.1 or 70.0, but also customer-specific solutions can be easily realised.

Each magnetic plate can be individually adapted to the particular machine table. Exact positioning on the machine table is ensured using 20H7 longitudinal and crosswise slots. The fixation is made in an all around clamping groove by means of clamping claws. Combinations with Hilma machine vices or Stark zero point clamping systems can be easily realised, as they all come from a single supplier. Additional T-slots, mounting holes, stops and special dimensions are not a problem to us.
